• The National Eye Institute completed the AREDS Study (The Age-Related Eye Disease Study) to determine if vitamin and mineral supplementation could decrease the risk of AMD (Age-Related Macular Degeneration). 
• They found that high levels of anti-oxidants and zinc could decrease the risk of macular degeneration by 25%. 
• The researchers who performed this major clinical trial also found that these same nutrients could decrease visual loss by 17%.
